Fables,
Fairy Tales, Myths and Legends
Definitions
A
fable always has a moral or lesson. A folktale is a story passed down through
generations, mainly by re-telling. A fairy tale is full of magic and usually
contains magical numbers (3, 7) and a plot of good versus evil. A tall tale
is an exaggeration from a particular region of the world. Legends generally
explain how a natural occurrence originated from the spirit world.
